WVROCKS

West Virginia Remote Online Collaborative Knowledge System (WVROCKS)

WVROCKS is a statewide portal designed to facilitate the completion of the RBA degree for students. All courses are taught by faculty at a West Virginia colleges or universities. The WVROCKS program is ONLY for RBA students.

Benefits of WVROCKS courses:
  • Accelerated courses that can be completed in eight weeks instead of 16, meaning that you have two terms within the regular fall and spring semesters. You should register for both sessions at the beginning of the regular term.
  • Complete flexibility since WVROCKS delivers education directly to your computer, 24/7, at home or work — anyplace internet access is available. All course content is asynchronous, but courses do have deadlines that need to be met.

WVROCKS Background

WVROCKS was launched in 2012 as a means for students in the 4-year Regent’s Bachelor of Arts degree-completion program to take advantage of online courses to help them complete their programs. Over the 10 years since its inception, WVROCKS has delivered courses to over 17,000 learners and maintains a 90% pass rate and a 96% completion rate. More information here: https://wvrocks.org/.

Marshall has offered WVROCKS courses since the beginning of the program, with about 30-35 offerings for spring and fall semester and 10-12 during the summer. We do not offer all of the courses WVROCKS does as we need to get permission from Marshall departments to offer courses in their areas of study and don’t want to duplicate their offerings. Courses will often repeat from term to term.

How do I register for classes on WVROCKS?

All registration occurs on your home campus. All approved WVROCKS classes are included in your campus’ schedule of classes. You should consult with the RBA coordinator on your campus for course selection information. Course selection varies by semester. To see the current course offerings go to: Marshall schedule of courses, select the term, and unselect all the check boxes but WVROCKS, then click “view all available courses” to see what is available for the upcoming term or terms.

How will I know how to access my WVROCKS class?

Once your home campus sends your registration information to the portal, you will receive an email in your campus email account from the WVROCKS portal staff with login information. Make sure you can access and regularly check your campus email so that you don’t miss this important information.
