Indroduce the nursing role and use of the nursing process in assisting adult clients to meet basic needs. Clinical in- cluded.
Pre-req: BSC 227 with a minimum grade of C and CHM 205 with a minimum grade of C and ENG 101 with a minimum grade of C and PSY 201 with a minimum grade of C and BSC 228 (may be taken concurrently) with a minimum grade of C and DTS 314 (may be taken concurrently) with a minimum grade of C and PSY 311 (may be taken concurrently) with a minimum grade of C.
Introduction to the concepts and processes basic to the nursing profession, including historical and legal aspects, career roles, medical terminology, and practical techniques to prepare for the baccalaureate nursing program.
Study of nursing assessment of the individual through the life span in relation to wellness promotion and the impact of illness.
Pre-req: (MTH 121 with a minimum grade of C or MTH 121B with a minimum grade of C and MTH 125 with a minimum grade of C or MTH 127 with a minimum grade of C or MTH 130 with a minimum grade of C) and ENG 101 with a minimum grade of C and BSC 227 with a minimum grade of C and BSC 228 with a minimum grade of C and (CHM 203 with a minimum grade of C or CHM 205 with a minimum grade of C) and PSY 201 with a minimum grade of C and NUR 221 (may be taken concurrently) with a minimum grade of C.
Introduction to philosophical and theoretical foundations of nursing, exploration and integration of concepts and processes basic to professional nursing practice. Labora- tory included.
Pre-req: (MTH 121 or MTH 121B and MTH 125 or MTH 127 or MTH 130) and BSC 227 and BSC 228 and (CHM 203 or CHM 205) and PSY 201 and NUR 219 (may be taken concurrently) and ENG 101.
Introduction to professional nursing practice in relation to potential and simple alterations in health. Practicum included.
Pre-req: NUR 221 with a minimum grade of C and NUR 219 with a minimum grade of C and NUR 319 (may be taken concurrently) with a minimum grade of C and BSC 250 (may be taken concurrently) with a minimum grade of C.
Focus is on role of the Associate degree nurse in understanding the human response to pharmacological therapy.
Focus is on nursing care of adult clients with health alterations of specific physiological systems. Role requirements and processes utilized in managing groups of clients in introduced. Clinical included. (PR: NUR 220) 5 hours theory/ 2 hours lab.
Pre-req: NUR 120 with a minimum grade of C and NUR 220 with a minimum grade of C.
Discussion of nursing conceptual models. Dynamic concepts of health, nursing process, change, teaching/learning, research and leadership introduced. Exercises in communica- tion/assertiveness skill development. 4 lec.
Focus in family nursing theory releated to human responses utilizing theoretical models for assessment and health promotion. Included is consideration of the impact of chronic illness. Option Students PR: NUR 219, NUR 305)

Development of skills in taking health history and perform- ing physical examination of clients throughout the life span. Practicum included.
Pre-req: NUR 221 with a minimum grade of C and NUR 219 with a minimum grade of C and NUR 222 (may be taken concurrently) with a minimum grade of C.
Focus of nursing is on the diagnosis and treatment of human responses to changes that occur in the expanding family. Practicum included.
Pre-req: NUR 222 and NUR 319 and (ENG 201 or ENG 200H or ENG 201H) and BSC 250 and DTS 314 and NUR 318 (may be taken concurrently).
Focus on providing nurses with the knowledge base and clinical skills necessary to obtain in-depth health histories and complete physical assessments of clients of various ages and cultural backgrounds. (PR: admission to RN to B.S.N. nursing program)
Pre-req: NUR 305 (may be taken concurrently).
Focus in on the role of the nurse in drug therapy. Specific drug classifications and prototypical drugs, their actions, effects, and nursing implications are described in-depth.
Pre-req: NUR 222 with a minimum grade of C.

The focus is on health care practices and beliefs of a variety of cultures which interact with the United States health care system. Transcultural nursing theories and concepts are addressed.
Pre-req: NUR 305 (may be taken concurrently) or (NUR 221 and NUR 219).
Focus is on nursing care of young to geriatric adults responding to health problems requiring critical care intervention. Practicum included.
Pre-req: NUR 328.
Focus is on research as it relates to evidence based practice. This course addresses the steps of research and evidence based practice to provide a basis for nursing practice.
Pre-req: (MTH 225 with a minimum grade of D or STA 225 with a minimum grade of D or EDF 417 with a minimum grade of D or MGT 218 with a minimum grade of D or PSY 223 with a minimum grade of D or SOC 345 with a minimum grade of D) and (NUR 305 with a minimum grade of D or NUR 327 with a minimum grade of D).
This course focuses on nursing leadership, cost-based care, and the professional role of the nurse within a complex health care system.
Pre-req: NUR 305.
Focus is upon public health principles and nursing practice with opportunity to provide health promotion for clients at risk and long term care for individuals and families in the home. (PR: HEC 404, NUR 324 CR: NUR 409, NUR 325)
Pre-req: NUR 321 and NUR 322 and NUR 324 and NUR 326 and NUR 350.

Focus in on leadership activities related to the roles of the professional nurse: provider of care, coordinator of care, and member of the profession. Practicum included.
Pre-req: (NUR 321 and NUR 322 and NUR 325 and NUR 350) and (NUR 416 (may be taken concurrently) and NUR 419 (may be taken concurrently) and NUR 421 (may be taken concurrently)) and (NUR 425 (may be taken concurrently)).



Focus is on evidence based practice and application of theoretical and empirical knowledge to address issues in management, health care policy, ethics, leadership, and health promotion of clients. (PR: NUR 305 and RN licensure; PR/CR: NUR 416, NUR 418, NUR 421)
