Minor in Art History
Students practice contextual analysis, critical thinking, visual literacy, and storytelling through the lens of art history. They take the two art-historical surveys and three upper-level specialized courses in topics from ancient to contemporary art. Internships at local museums, galleries, and other cultural institutions are encouraged. Studio art majors who want to enhance their creative practice with a deeper understanding of history may be interested in a minor in Art History. Students majoring in history, anthropology, the humanities, and other related disciplines may add an art history minor to complement their primary field of study. The minor is particularly useful for students interested in pursuing graduate-level study in public history, conservation, library science, and museum studies.
