A minor in Communication Disorders provides a strong foundational introduction to speech, language, hearing, and swallowing across the lifespan. The CD minor complements a wide range of majors, including education, nursing, psychology, social work, pre‑medicine, pre‑physical therapy, pre‑occupational therapy, health sciences, and other allied health and human service fields. Students gain exposure to the roles of speech-language pathologists and audiologists, including the identification and treatment of articulation, language, voice, fluency, cognitive communication, social communication, and swallowing disorders, how to interact with individuals with communication disorders and/or differences while developing skills that enhance interprofessional practice and communication-focused careers.
