Focus is on role of the Associate degree nurse in understanding the human response to pharmacological therapy.
Emphasizes concepts and processes essential to professional nursing practice. Philosophical and theoretical foundations of nursing are examined. Focus is on professional role and role transition. (PR: Admission to RN to B.S.N. nursing program)
Focus in family nursing theory related to human responses utilizing theoretical models for assessment and health promotion. Included is consideration of the impact of chronic illness.

Development of skills in taking health history and performing physical examination of clients throughout the life span. Practicum included.

Focus on providing nurses with the knowledge base and clinical skills necessary to obtain in-depth health histories and complete physical assessments of clients of various ages and cultural backgrounds. (PR: admission to RN to B.S.N. nursing program or Permission)

The focus is on health care practices and beliefs of a variety of cultures which interact with the United States health care system. Transcultural nursing theories and concepts are addressed.

Nursing Care of Children Focus is on nursing care of pediatric clients of all ages and their family's response to common and complex health problems. Practicum included.
Pre-req: NUR 318 with a minimum grade of C and (NUR 327 with a minimum grade of C or NUR 315 with a minimum grade of C) and NUR 350 with a minimum grade of C.
Focus is on nursing care of young to geriatric adults responding to health problems requiring critical care intervention. Practicum included.

Focus is on research as it relates to evidence based practice. This course addresses the steps of research and evidence based practice to provide a basis for nursing practice.
Pre-req: STA 225 with a minimum grade of C or MGT 218 with a minimum grade of C or PSY 223 with a minimum grade of C or SOC 345 with a minimum grade of C and (NUR 305 with a minimum grade of C or NUR 327 with a minimum grade of C) or NUR 314 with a minimum grade of C.
This course focuses on nursing leadership, cost-based care, and the professional role of the nurse within a complex health care system.

Focus is upon public health principles and nursing practice with opportunity to provide health promotion for clients at risk and long term care for individuals and families in the home.
Pre-req: NUR 321 with a minimum grade of C and NUR 322 with a minimum grade of C and (NUR 328 with a minimum grade of C or NUR 411 with a minimum grade of C) and NUR 350 with a minimum grade of C and NUR 408 with a minimum grade of C.
Focus in on leadership activities related to the roles of the professional nurse: provider of care, coordinator of care, and member of the profession. Practicum included.

The purpose of this course is to assist the student to synthesize the content of the baccalaureate nursing educational program.
