Major Information

  • The total number of free electives will depend on the amount of double and triple counting of requirements.
  • See course attributes each semester for courses that meet multiple requirements.
  • Questions about requirements should be directed to the College of Liberal Arts (304-696-2350). Core II and COLA requirements may not be double counted.
  • Forty-eight credit hours (sixteen 3-hour courses) must be at the 300/400 level.
  • Students must earn a C or better in ENG 201 Advanced Composition and all foreign language courses.
  • Minimum of 120 hours to graduate.
  • The student will concentrate on a single foreign language. A minimum of six hours beyond the 204 level is required, including at least one conversation and/or composition course (FRN 305/306, GER 315/316, JPN 307, SPN 305/306).
  • HST Elective may be met by taking six hours from the following: HST 206, 208, 223, 265, 231, 301, 302, 303, 304, 305, 306, 307, 311, 313, 361, 378, 392, 404, 405, 423, 425, 426, 428, 430, 434, 435, 436, 439, 442, 445, 446, 449, or 458.

Four Year Plan

International Relations is an interdisciplinary undergraduate major focusing on the changing political, economic and cultural relations within the international system of the modern era. The program explores how global, regional, and domestic factors influence relations between actors on the world stage. Students are equipped with both the foundational skills and specific knowledge necessary to analyze the choices and challenges that arise in this arena.
