Secondary Education, B.A.
Overview
The B.A. in Secondary Education prepares individuals who will teach in middle schools and high schools. A variety of content areas are available including the high-need areas of mathematics and the sciences. Content courses are primarily offered by faculty in other colleges, and in some cases, students can receive degrees in both Education and in the content area. Students are in clinical situations in private and public schools early in the program and have a culminating full-year experience in a classroom with a cooperating teacher. The Secondary Education major may choose to add on an endorsement in Special Education. Those who wish to teach Art, Music or Wellness (Health and Physical Education) also fall under this degree, while the licensure for these areas also includes teaching in prekindergarten through elementary school.
