The major in Classical Languages consists of 33 hours of coursework. Students must take 15 hours at the 300/400 level, one 300/400 level CL course, and LAT 499 Latin Capstone. Students who wish to receive credit for upper division Latin or Ancient Greek will necessarily have to take introductory Latin or Ancient Greek. Four Year Plan
The Classical Languages Emphasis offers the opportunity to investigate the ancient Mediterranean through learning two of its primary languages, Latin and Ancient Greek. Students will be prepared for graduate study in Classics, Archaeology, Comparative Literature, and Ancient History, as well as professions that demand close attention to language like Law, Diplomacy, and Publishing.
